Welcome to Nanho's Personal Page.
O.K., you are wondering what relation does exist between the Giants and Spain. But if you are thinking that the answer is none, you're wrong. Well... I accept that They have never come to Spain, They are not famous in Spain, and even some of their records are not available in Spain. Really, almost nobody in Spain knows them. So, is this page a swindle? No, I hope.
Do let's start. Do you know where is the band's name from? It's a spanish sentence. It have been taken from the internationally famous book "Las aventuras del ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha" (commonly known as "El Quijote"), written by Miguel de Cervantes in the XVI Century. I suppose that you know that the book is about the adventures of a found of travelling knight (don Quijote), who had a lot of imagination. So, one day, he was riding on his horse with his servant, Sancho Panza, when he saw at the distance some windmills, but they appeared to him as giants waving their giant arms, and he said: "They Might Be Giants", and went to fight against them. You can imagine the result...
But the relation doesn't end here. I think that the Johns' choice for the band's name, and even the choice of being a rock band are very similar to don Quijote's choice for fighting against the windmills: don Quijote was a brave, honest and idealist hero/anti-hero (just like the Johns), he had his own outlook about the world (just like the Johns), and he was totally insane (...!).
Well, this is the first page from Spain (that I know) about the all-times biggest band all over the world, They Might Be Giants. In it, you will find some criticals, interviews and comments about them that have appeared in Spanish magazines. Besides that, there are translations into Spanish of more than 100 TMBG songs. Anyway, you can see my discography and my favorite songs list, and many more...
